Alimony, Maintenance & Interim

Alimony, Maintenance & Interim

Guiding you through life’s most sensitive legal challenges with compassion and expertise.

  • Maintenance is a crucial component of matrimonial proceedings and can be claimed by either spouse who lacks adequate financial means for self-support.

  • Maintenance is generally classified into two categories:

1. Interim Maintenance

  • Granted during the pendency of the case to ensure that neither party is placed at a financial disadvantage while contesting the matter.

  • The amount of interim maintenance depends on several factors, primarily:

    • The financial status of both parties prior to filing the case.

    • The income or salary of the spouse from whom maintenance is sought.

  • The objective is to bring both spouses to an equal footing during the legal process.

2. Permanent Maintenance

  • Awarded upon the final disposal of the case.

  • May be granted as a monthly/periodic payment or as a lump sum, depending on the unique circumstances of the case.
